GlazeSnap
Founding Beta

Upload a ceramic surface and find commercial glazes worth testing.

Photograph a fired surface and get a short, honest list of catalog candidates — starting points for your next round of test tiles.

How it works

  1. 1

    Photograph the surface

Upload one to five photos of the fired surface — a phone camera is fine. Add cone, atmosphere, or clay color if you know them.

  2. 2

    Compare against the verified catalog

GlazeSnap describes what it sees and compares that description against verified commercial glaze records, filtered to your firing conditions.

  3. 3

Take the shortlist to the test kiln

Three to five candidates worth testing — each with why it resembles your surface, how it may differ, and a suggested testing order.

A small catalog, carefully verified

Today the catalog holds 30 commercial glazes from two manufacturers — AMACO Potter's Choice and Mayco Stoneware. Every fact is verified against official manufacturer pages, with sources and review dates stored on each record. Coverage grows over time.

Matches are starting points for test tiles, not identification. No photograph can confirm the original product — results depend on photography, clay body, glaze thickness, firing, and layering. And GlazeSnap never assesses food safety from photographs.

Simple pricing

Your first completed analysis is free. After that, 10 credits cost $9 — a one-time purchase, no subscription. A credit is used only when a match completes and returns candidates; failed runs and reopened results never cost anything.
